The Royal School of Church Music Canada

RSCM Canada is the national Canadian branch of the Royal School of Church Music, which has its headquarters in England.It supports a world-wide network of 8,500 churches, schools and individuals. We are committed to achieving the best use of good music in worship – whatever the resources, whatever the styles. Through education, training, publications, advice and encouragement, we aim to support church music today and to invest in church music for the future.

RSCMC is run by a national Board of Directors and has chapters in British Columbia, Eastern Ontario, Niagara-Huron, Toronto and Niagara.

Voice for Life

The Voice for Life Training Scheme provides a framework allowing singers of all ages to develop their skills, to learn about music notation, and expand their knowledge of repertoire. The work books provide a clear guide on the different aspects of singing by completing questions, exercises and puzzles. The back of each book provides a checklist for easy reference. There is no time limit for completion which allows each chorister to study at their own pace under the direction of the church musician.

Publications

Part of the benefit of becoming a member is access to RSCM Publications and the RSCM Shop. The RSCM publishes two quarterly volumes for members:

Sunday by Sunday, the RSCM guide for all who plan and lead worship; and,
Church Music Quarterly (SBS), a quarterly magazine for those involved in music ministry

Here in Canada, we publish local guides for administering musical events, festival resources, and a Canadian Companion to Sunday by Sunday (more information coming soon!).
