Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, Ontario

On Sunday, December 17th at 4:00 p.m. the Cathedral Choir will join with our Bishop for the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols.

This traditional service dates from Truro Cathedral, England in 1880 and was later adapted for use at King’s College, Cambridge from where it is broadcast every Christmas Eve at 4:00pm.

The Nine Lessons recount the story of the Messiah, from God’s promise to Abraham to the birth of Jesus; the choir sings music by Whitehead, Owens, Fankhauser, Guerrero, Martinson, and Trepte; and four congregational hymns, sung with the traditional texts, complete the repertoire for this moving celebration of our redemption.

All are welcome and warmly invited to St Paul’s for this service.
