RSCM Singing Awards

Introduced in 2000, the Awards are completed by official examination under the direction of a RSCM-validated examiner. There are three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level corresponds to work completed in the Voice for Life Scheme. After completion of the Dark Blue level, the Bronze Award examination follows. Silver follows the Red level, and Gold follows the Yellow Level.

Each Award looks for a high standard in hymn singing, psalm singing, anthem repertoire, aural tests, and knowledge of their church’s main liturgy. An understanding of the different seasons within the Christian Year and repertoire of hymns, psalms, anthems, and a bible story associated with each season is expected. An understanding of the layout of your church’s worship space is required.

The RSCM Awards Administrator for Canada oversees all aspects of the examination process and is also the chief examiner.
